Want to get involved?
There are many ways in which you can demonstrate your support for your local club or pub and the wider industry.
You can start by filling out the “Contact Your MP” form below. Tell your federal Member of Parliament what you really think about the proposed reforms and ask them to vote against these intrusive laws.
Next, "sign the petition". The petition asks the Government to consider the privacy rights of individuals and recreational gamblers. We also recommend calling talkback radio or writing a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. We encourage you to express your views and share your concerns with the wider community.
Finally, stay up to date with all the latest campaign news and developments by signing up for electronic communications from the Won’t Work, Will Hurt campaign. Use the form below to register your details.

I am writing to say that I do not support the Government’s proposed poker machine
reforms. I believe the reforms won’t help problem gamblers, but they will hurt clubs
and the community groups clubs support.
Problem gambling is an area of concern for the community and problem gambling needs
to be addressed by government. However, any government response should be researched
and evidence-based. My concern is that problem gamblers will set unrealistically
high spending limits or get around the system by gambling online. The Salvos, Lifeline,
problem gambling counsellors and several leading academics have expressed strong
concerns with mandatory pre-commitment. I don’t believe that the Government knows
better than these experts.
The clubs and pubs I visit cannot afford to implement this new technology and they
will have less money to spend on supporting community activities. Recreational gamblers
will not bother to register and obtain a card, and that lost revenue will devastate
clubs. Thousands of jobs could be lost and many clubs will be forced to close.
I ask you to consider the importance of local clubs and pubs and vote against mandatory
pre-commitment legislation.
This is my comment. Please take this information with you.
